The International Bible Seminary
In the tea highlands of Western Kenya
cascades from just above Kericho and ends close to Sotik. In the middle
is a town center called Litein. It has an urban population of about
2300 and a rural population of about 83,000. It is the capital of the
Bureti district. While the tea plantations are the biggest employers,
the area supports the AIC hospital , the district government offices,
several private schools and a college, and numerous churches. It is
also major trading center drawing small vendors from the surrounding
areas. Kipsigis make up the main tribe, Litein has seen many temporary
visitors from many areas because of the tea production.

Once a month the pastors
of the area churches gather to worship, exchange ideas, encourage each
other and pray for the spiritual needs of the community. The
Pastor's is an interdenominational group that has a heart to
bring unity and harmony to the religious community. Rev. Stanley
Melek asked us to help him train pastors in his own stream, Glory
Bible-Believing Church. After the first year pastors from varying
churches came for training as well. The Pastor's Council helped to
birth the beginnings of the seminary by encouraging Rev. Melek with
their expertise and ideas.
Our vision from the beginning was to form an ecumenical,
interdenominational seminary and training center. Currently, we offer a
1 year and 2 year certificate. As it grows we will add a diploma track.
In between semesters the IBS hosts short courses for pastoral and lay
training. These refreshers help to keep the churches current and cross
fertlilized.
Located near the center of Litein, the seminary has been visited by
those in need of prayer and spiritual encouragement.
